A restored 1960s speakeasy in the heart of Apple Hill — where history meets handcrafted wine.
Nestled within the historic confines of an original speakeasy from the 1960s, the Morton Family Cellars tasting room in Apple Hill offers a captivating glimpse into the past. Formerly an unlicensed pub partially buried underground, this hidden gem featured its own secret door known only to a few locals back in the day.
Abandoned and ignored for years, the basement pub was full of junk and dirt, buried beneath layers of overgrowth until unearthed in 2019 during an ambitious expansion of the property. Today, it has been meticulously restored and serves as an intimate venue where guests can savor exquisite wines while immersing themselves in the rich history and authentic ambiance of a bygone era. The tasting room sits just steps from Biama Vineyard, and every Friday evening it transforms into the stage for karaoke night.
